Backpackers on Dundas was crazy busy this week! We had backpackers from all over the world staying at our Toronto hostel this week and it was a lot of fun. Pretty much every night became movie night and it was mob rule over what was showing on our big screen.
As we get into swing for summer, we will start adding more group activities for travellers staying with us. I have a few ideas of my own so stay tuned for those. I would also LOVE to get some activity suggestions from other people as well.
So, if you have the time and inclination, leave a comment on what group activities we should organize at our Toronto hostel this summer.

Doors Open Toronto 2008
Next Saturday and Sunday May 24 & 25th is the annual Doors Open Toronto event. Last year's events were based around the idea of green spaces and this year, the them revolves around "Sacred spaces, sacred circles", where you can view multicultural places of worship and Toronto's National Historic sites for free. This year's spotlight will be on the churches, chapels, temples, synagogues and mosques that make up the religous and spiritual diversity in the city. The event gives visitors an opportunity to see and explore 140 buildings of importance, with many which are not open to the general public.
This year, the event is also in collaboration with the Tafelmusik Orchestra and the Toronto Consort, in with special performances will be hosted in various buildings.
Pick up the official program guide, with maps and listings in the Toronto Star on Thursday May 22nd, 2008.

Toronto's Newest Backpackers Open for Business
Backpackers on Dundas is proud to announce that we are officially open for business.
It took us a little longer than expected to open up our first Toronto hostel's doors but we wanted to make sure we had everything perfect before accepting guests. We know we made the right decision because we have only been open a very short time yet we have already had travelers from all over the globe check in. The feedback we have been getting from our guests has been consistent and heart warming.
Our guests have marveled at how clean our facilities are, how comfortable our brand new beds are, and how helpful and friendly the proprietor, Michael Scott is.
If you are traveling in Toronto, Canada, book a bed with us. We offer a clean, friendly, and relaxing environment, we have a HUGE flat screen TV and an entire collection of movies to choose from, free internet access, and brand new comfy beds.
Because we are so new, we are offering reduced rates, so be sure to take advantage of a great Toronto hostel at a real value.

Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone, Toronto
There were so many events going on in Torotno this past weekend, it was hard to choose which one to attend. In the end (and to be honest, with pretty much no deliberation) we decided to help raise some cash for charity so we attended the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone.
Apparently we were not the only ones to attend the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone. Over 4000 people showed up to raise money and walk 5 kms. Among the local (and not so local) celebrities was Chris Jericho.
Check out some great photos taken at the event.
