Chinese Lantern Festival in Toronto Ontario

Chinese Lantern Display at Chinese Lantern Festival

Travellers from all over the world come to Toronto for many reasons. With that said, regardless of why you are visiting Toronto, if you you are here right now then you should take the time to visit the Chinese Lantern Festival at Ontario Place. A bunch of the backpackers staying at our Toronto hostel, Backpackers On Dundas, have toured the Festival and been amazed!

The Chinese Lantern Festival is here until October 12th and the gates open at 7pm. The price for adult admission is $25 and if you want to go early and experience Ontario Place during the day, the price of admission for a play all day pass is $33.50 for adults. Of course, The EX is still running until September 1st so if you are visiting Toronto now, we suggest going there for the day and then walking across the bridge to take in the Lantern Festival at night. What a great day!!! General admission to The EX is just $14.00

Here are some photos of the Chinese Lantern Festival taken by people staying at BoD, the Best Toronto Hostel!

Toronto Buskerfest

August 21-24 is Buskerfest at St. Lawrence market (along Front Street, and between Church and Jarvis). It brings the thrill of world class street theatre to Toronto.

Buskerfest is one of the last major festivals of Toronto's summer. It features 8 stages and the performers come from all over the world: Comedians, contortionists, musicians, magicians, sword swallowers, fire jugglers, acrobats, aerial artists, and much more! It's 4 days and 4 nights of continuous, non-stop, side-splitting hilarity

Admission is by donation in support of Epilepsy Toronto.

Money City Maniacs

MoneyCityManiacs is up and running! Its the place to go to for "listings of free shows, concerts and other miscellaneous things in the great city we call Toronto." So whether you are on a budget or just want to find out what's happening in and around the city, I recommend checking it out.

It's got information on city-sponsored events (which often include free concerts and movies), no cover nights at some of the best bars in Toronto as well as listings of television shows whom require live audiences. It's a win-win situation, you get to do stuff for free and venues get participants! How awesome is that?

Check out the calendar for shows, dates and locations.

Toronto's Free Tourist Attractions

Toronto offers lots of tourist destinations and events, but you can also find a lot of free attractions for the smaller budget. The following is a list of free tours, attractions, and events that our city has to offer.

A farmers market is open at the farm every Tuesday from May-October: 3pm-7pm.

Caribana: The Aftermath

Caribana weekend in Toronto is over now, and all of our International Travellers can't stop raving about how much fun they had!

Even though the weather wasn't very nice on the day of the parade, the streets were still very full with people coming from all over the world just for the festival. Here at Backpackers on Dundas, we are very thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and accommodate so many people united by one weekend.
