What’s happening in Toronto this weekend

As I’ve said before and will say again, our BoD fans know that we can play right downtown any time of the day or night. But if you are looking for specific events, maybe you’d like to give one (or all) of these a visit. From an international circus festival to a citywide photography festival, Toronto residents and travelers can experience it all this weekend:

Toronto International Circus Festival
May 16, 17, 18/09 – free event – Harborfront Centre
For kids of all ages, this thrilling event focuses on you and your impact on the world. The multiple events (acrobatics, stunts, pyromaniacs, etc) happening all weekend long will keep you intrigued and stimulated!

Bead by Bead – free eventMay 15-May 23/09 – free event – Ingram Gallery, 49 Avenue Road (above Bloor St)
Brought to Toronto by the local group Eat my Words and sponsored by the South African non-profit organization, Monkey-biz, this exhibit features whimsical ceramic dolls created by underprivileged women in Cape Town. Crafted bead-by-bead, these are colorful, one-of-a-kind creations are going for anything from $50-$1000. Definitely worth the short bus ride up to see!

Contact 09 – free event
Til May 31, 2009 – free event – Contact 09 is happening at multiple locations around the GTA, from the at such places as the ROM, Pearson International Airport and TTC stations; a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian, just to name a few locations. The theme for 2009 is Still Revolution and references the shift from analog-to-digital and how it’s radically altered the creation and consumption of images.

Oh, and before I forget to mention it…our favorite coffee house, Tim Horton’s, is offering a free (I love that word) small iced coffee on May 21st. So mark your calendar, quick!
