You may not be a pro at contra dance but that’s expected- there are beginners lessons starting at 7:30pm to get you started! According to the Toronto Country Dancers, contra dance is a formation where the dancers line up in two “sets” of parallel lines that run the length of the hall. The music is live Scots-Irish or French Canadian tradition, usually played on fiddle, accordion, banjo, piano, or guitar. This event at the St. Barnabas Anglican Church is hosting live music by Saskia Tomkins and Steafan Hannigan. After the beginners lesson the floor heats up with all skill levels of dancers. Admission is $10; 7:30-10:30 pm. St Barnabas Anglican Church, 175 Hampton.
